By: Haley Arispe HISTORY OF THE INTERNET How the internet came to be: According to the textbook, Communication Technology Update and Fundamentals by Grant, A. E., & Meadows, J. H., “the internet began in the 1960s with ARPANET, or the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) network project, under the auspices of the U.S. Defense Department”. The internet was originally intended to help military researchers with a way to link computers together that would share data while also remaining functional when traditional communication might not be accessible (Grant 20). Later the internet adapted to emphasize on not only communication throughout the military, but on entertainment and communication by the public. How does it work: The internet is essentially the connection between servers via communication wires.
